Our social services assist individuals and families with services
Cultural Support.
We acknowledge, support and share an understanding of cultural diversity through the following services:
- Kaupapa Māori
- Pasifika people
- Other cultures
Employment.
We help individuals to discover their skill sets through work experience, trialling every aspect of a business and gaining an understanding of the expectations of employers and the work environment by organising appropriate field-specific placement or internships. The placement/internship experience skill sets will add to their CV and support them in employment.
Legal/Civil Services.
Our Legal/Civil services include:
- Legal counsel
- Workshops on legal procedures
- JP Services
Financial Literacy and Budgeting.
Our experienced budget advisors can provide both group and individual support with developing individual and family financials to assist future wellbeing and financial resilience.
Drop-in Centre Visits.
Our experienced budget advisors can provide both group and individual support with developing individual and family financials to assist future wellbeing and financial resilience.
Social Work
We intend to work with the relevant government departments to assist with any issues that might be creating barriers to employment and family wellbeing including:
- Courts
- Department of Corrections
- New Zealand Police
- Ministry of Social Development
- Health providers
- Educational trainers
- Other support services on demand
Education and Training.
We provide basic work and life skills courses including numeracy, literacy and NZQA qualifications and education programmes with internship or placement by working closely with industries. This initiative has been put in place to give individuals the opportunity to gain industry-specific work experience and meaningful employment while achieving their respective qualifications.

Drug Abuse and Violence.
We support our participants as they work with the relevant professionals to change behaviours through the following strategies:
- Conflict resolution mediation
- Counselling
- Information & support
- Referral to specialist services
- Support groups
- Youth programmes
- Living without violence programme for men, women, couples and families
Parenting.
MESST provides positive family support through the following programmes:
- Parent wellbeing workshops
- Family/Whānau support
- WHEELCHAIR ACCESS : YES
- WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? : Youths/Rangatahi, Family/Whānau, and Adults/Pakeke
- FEES : We offer both funded and fee-paying courses; where possible we act on referrals from government and community agencies.
- LANGUAGES SPOKEN : Māori , Pasifika, Asian, English, Others.
